The revival of the world nuclear power industry is being actively promoted in China.

Xu Yuming, deputy secretary general of China Nuclear Energy Association, said at the 11th China Nuclear Energy International Conference on May 21 that 4-6 units will be expected to be approved in China and 4-6 units will be put into operation this year. By the end of this year, the total installed capacity of running units will reach 30GW, making China one of the world's top three nations in nuclear power generation.
Related expectations were also confirmed by Liu Baohua, director of Nuclear Power Office of National Energy Administration. Recently, Liu Baohua said pointed out in the " Third Energy Forum of Chinese Academy of Engineering / National Energy Administration" that in accordance with the "Long-Term Development Plan for Nuclear Power”, about 8 nuclear power units will be approved for construction in China this year. He also said that in the world's advanced nuclear power technology development, China has taken the lead in a number of areas and China’s ability in nuclear power technology research and development, equipment manufacturing, design and construction capacity is rapidly improving.” It can be said that after several decades of development, China has been one of the world's top nations in nuclear power development. ”
It is understood that, as of May 17, there are a total of 438 operating nuclear reactors (including the experimental reactor) and 67 under-construction reactors in the world. Global nuclear power installed capacity reached 379.261GW. The United States and France take the first and second places with 98.639GW and 63.130GW respectively. China ranked fifth place with 23.025GW, accounting for 6% of the global nuclear power installed capacity.
"According to the plan, by 2020, China's total installed capacity of nuclear power under-construction will reach 88 million kilowatts, which means that before 2020, additional 35 million kilowatts will be built and an average of 5-6 units will start construction every year with additional investment of more than CNY 500 billion.” Xu Yuming said, "Third generation of nuclear power technology represented by Hualong 1, AP1000 and CAP1400 will become the mainstream of scaled development of nuclear power in future in China. ”
In addition to leading position in development scale and pace, China is also changing from a big player to a strong player in nuclear power field, and is gradually becoming the  center of the world's nuclear power industry. This has become an indisputable fact. The supporting equipment manufacturing capacity and the opportunity to go out are two crucial topics of nuclear power development in China.
According to Xu Yuming, at present China's main equipment layout in nuclear island has been formed. China owns the world's largest nuclear power equipment capacity. Every year, more than 10 sets of complete sets of nuclear power equipment are manufactured. “Localization rate of second-generation improved models and Hualong-1 equipment reached 85%, and the goal of localization rate is 80% for AP1000. Most of the main equipment and raw materials can be produced domestically. ”
Liu Baohua said publicly that China basically can produce 6-8 sets of nuclear power equipment every year and has mastered key equipment production technology of third generation nuclear power production. However, some major key technologies and equipment are still to be tackled.
Public information show that, at present China has formed three nuclear power equipment manufacturing bases in Shanghai, Sichuan and Heilongjiang and has built heavy equipment manufacturing bases in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hebei. At the same time, leading nuclear power equipment manufacturing enterprises represented by Dongfang Electric, Shanghai Electric, Harbin Electric, CFHI and CNEG, as well as a group of specialized enterprises mastering special manufacturing technology are supporting the core of China's nuclear power equipment.
“According to the capacity of nuclear power equipment and the conditions of nuclear power sites, in 2030 we can support 150 million to 200 million kilowatts of nuclear power installed capacity. As long as the technology is mature, we can provide sufficient nuclear power sites. If the above objectives are achieved, 600 million tons / year of coal can be saved, 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 45 million tons of sulfur dioxide and 23 million tons of nitrogen oxides can be reduced, providing strong support for realizing national targets of coping with climate change.” Liu Baohua said.
Xu Yuming also believed that it is the expected that by 2030 nuclear power installed capacity will reach 200GW, accounting for about 10% of total installed capacity of power industry. During 2020-2030, 6-8 units will be newly constructed every year. In addition, the new unit will adopt the highest international safety standards and mature advanced technology to ensure smooth completion and reliable operation, and constant improvement of the economic competitiveness of nuclear power.

In terms of "going out", China’s nuclear power opportunities are increasing.
At present, China's independent nuclear power brands are actively entering Europe, South America, Africa and Asia, have made their existence in Pakistan, Britain, Argentina, South Africa, Turkey and other countries.
According to Liu Baohua, currently 14 countries in the world are building nuclear power units and more than 40 countries are actively planning the development of nuclear power.
Industry analysts said that nuclear power "going out" has become a national strategy, and obtained high-level government "referral", which is unprecedented. Moreover, the trend of global nuclear power development has been clear and the market space is very broad. China's nuclear power industry will boast many opportunity from both domestic and foreign aspects. In particular, with the implementation of national "One Belt and One Road" initiative, nuclear power development is facing new opportunities.
According to relevant statistics, in addition to China, 19 countries along "One Belt and One Road" have nuclear power plants, 25 countries are planning on nuclear power development with 140 planned units, and a total investment of over USD 1.2 trillion.
“The key for China's nuclear power enterprises to 'go out' is to accurately grasp and actively integrate into the national strategy, research and enter overseas markets, select main target, and actively extend to other potential markets.” An insider said.
